Already posted these a couple of weeks ago on ulorin_vex and my Malady Charlotina myspace but I'm in full swing blog updating mode, and might do a full step-by-step on one or two of these too so I guess it's a good place to start :)

( couple more under here.. )
Working on a couple of new black & white drawings, probably going to complete the shading in ink wash. I do most of my line work using Rotring technical drawing pens and indian ink over the top of a pencil sketch. Sometimes it's a really detailed pencil drawing and other times I just do the face and figure and build up the rest around it in between inking.

This one I'm doing entirely with brushes and coloured inks, in a similar style to Fox Dreams. Thinking of doing a small series of these for possible exhibition :) |

| Queen of Hearts |
[Mar. 28th, 2010|07:02 pm] |
I started doing a series of pieces loosely based on Alice in Wonderland, partly inspired by a modelling job for Bizarre magazine and also for an exhibition (which I sadly couldn't make the deadline for in the end as I was away in Italy, but I'm still continuing with the artwork!) This is the first, the Queen of Hearts
Markers on A3 Bristol board Original: For Sale, prints are available on my website here: http://maladycharlotina.com/printstore.html :)

[Mar. 28th, 2010|06:41 pm] |
I had been planning on giving up on this sightly neglected journal and merging it with ulorin_vex but it seems like quite a few people actually follow this one (more than I thought anyway!). So I will try again and keep more up to date with it!
Have several new pieces to post, the first is this design I did for Atomefabrik, who make the most amazing goggles and other contraptions! :)

And here is the finished flyer...

| Gazelland Magazine |
[Jan. 3rd, 2009|05:30 pm] |
So I decided that my new years resolution would be to actually update my art LJ and get on with the mountain of unfinished drawings I have lying around! Nothing new finished quite yet, I'm working on a couple of black and white pieces right now, including victorian-ish siamese twins and a giant octopus :)
I thought I'd share this page from the Gazelland Magazine 'Art Issue' too, as I am featured as an artist/illustrator (though there's just a photo of me and a quote about what I think art is, no artwork)

The fashion designer and stylist who dressed me up for this photo is non other than Stefan (see previous journal entry Warning: contains drawing with naked man parts!).
My quote comes from the Star Trek NG episode 'The Cost of Living' though I believe it has other origins. It's the sort of thing I say in response the interview questions that I haven't got a clue how to answer (i.e Finish the sentence "Art is" in 5 words!) |

Red Ink on A4 bristol
Just a quick thing I did today. The scanner didn't pick up the eye detail very well but I kinda like it better than most of the other stuff I've been doing recently. Red on white = love

I soo rushed the background on this, I do that all the time. Plan for 2009 - more time and effort, more patience! I can't decide if I like this new style I've been trying, I might start combining the markers with brush/painting with inks instead of the rapidoliner outline. Or maybe just do some ink/brush paintings again :)
